Why UTRGV?
The proximity to home. Being close to my family and friends from Mexico and the Valley was very important when deciding which university I would attend. In addition, being able to achieve my academic goals affordably made UTRGV my top choice.

What made you decide on your current major?
Throughout high school, I explored many subjects, but marketing always stood out to me. Taking an Intro to Marketing course sealed the deal for me. I absolutely loved it and knew I'd made the right choice in picking this major.

What do you hope to achieve beyond completion of your major?
I strive to apply my knowledge and everything that I learned throughout my college journey to excel in a job that I enjoy. Looking back at all the things I have achieved while being a student at UTRGV, I am very excited to see what the future holds for me.

What do you like most about UTRGV?
The classes provide great content to enhance the student learning experience and its potential to foster meaningful connections with peers and professors, which are great qualities that UTRGV offers. I believe this is very important for personal and academic growth.

What does being a Vaquero mean to you?
Being a Vaquero means more than just individual membership; it signifies joining a vibrant community and a larger family. As a Vaquero, we come together, support one another, and celebrate our shared experiences. We take pride in fostering connections that extend beyond the university, forming bonds that last a lifetime.

What opportunities has UTRGV helped you find throughout your community?
UTRGV has helped me grow so much both academically and professionally. Being able to have multiple work experiences has helped develop more knowledge and makes me feel better prepared for the challenges that I may face in the future. Academically, I’ve had amazing opportunities to represent my college and showcase the abilities I have because of my studies.

What advice do you have for fellow students pursuing their degrees?
Get involved! The university offers so many opportunities to help you grow. Organizations help you connect with others and make friends along the way and create connections with professors and staff. They can help you so much to navigate your college journey.
