Why UTRGV?
When I was searching for a university, I wanted to stay close to my family while receiving the best education possible. I knew I could achieve that here at UTRGV.

What made you decide on your current major?
I have always loved music, however, within the last years of my high school experience, I really grew to love educating those around me about music. I love having the chance to teach anyone who wants to learn about music.

What do you hope to achieve beyond completion of your major?
I would love to open my own voice studio, while conducting at the high school level.

What do you like most about UTRGV?
What I love the most about UTRGV is the inclusivity and the community. I love seeing people of different origins coming together in one place; I don’t think I have ever seen a more diverse area in the Rio Grande Valley.

What does being a Vaquero mean to you?
Being a Vaquero, to me, is having integrity and showing respect for others. We must include everyone in the UTRGV community.

What opportunities has UTRGV helped you find throughout your community?
UTRGV has helped me gain leadership experience. During my journey at UTRGV, I participated in the Student Government Association (SGA). I started as an FYI intern in my freshman semester, then served as a senator, became the Chair of the Senate, and now hold the position of Internal Vice President.

What advice do you have for fellow students pursuing their degrees?
My advice to my fellow students is to find a way to balance academics with self-care. Get enough sleep, eat well, exercise, and make time for activities that help you relax and recharge. Also, make sure to grab a friend and take them with you. Although we are all strong enough to do this alone, a little help, and some company, can go a long way.
