Why UTRGV?
With UTRGV being just down the road from where I live, it seemed like the obvious choice for me. However, there's more to my decision than just proximity. The quality of education offered here rivals that of other top institutions, all while being affordable for everyone. Additionally, the opportunity to go through my college journey with the support of my family solidified my decision to attend UTRGV.
What made you decide on your current major?
My interest developed through my involvement in sports and exercise throughout my life. I truly discovered my passion for my future career during my shadowing experiences. Working with patients and witnessing the difference Physical Therapists can make in an individual's life has motivated me to pursue this career.
What do you hope to achieve beyond completion of your major?
My educational journey does not end with my bachelor’s degree. I plan on pursuing a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree. In the future, I hope to specialize in Sports Rehabilitation and work as the Head Physical Therapist for a professional sports team, preferably the Texas Rangers or Dallas Cowboys!
What do you like most about UTRGV?
What I love most about UTRGV is the professors and faculty I've had the opportunity to connect with. They are not just there to teach; they genuinely want to see you succeed outside of the classroom. They have supported me in various aspects of my professional journey and have helped me lay the foundation for my future endeavors.
What does being a Vaquero mean to you?
Being a Vaquero means being a leader in everything you do, giving back to a community that has given so much to you, and persevering and succeeding no matter the circumstances.
What opportunities has UTRGV helped you find throughout your community?
From participating in student organizations, being accepted into various internships, volunteering in my community, and mentoring students, UTRGV has given me the opportunity to grow not only as an individual but also alongside my community.
What advice do you have for fellow students pursuing their degrees?
In everything you do, have confidence in yourself and trust in your abilities. You have truly accomplished so much—someone out there is proud of you (I am proud of you)—so be a role model to those around you.
