Why UTRGV?
Being close to family and having the support system of always having them around. Being able to come to the university with my sibling and allowing me to share these successful experiences with not just her, but my parents too.

What made you decide on your current major?
In my background, I worked as a Medical Assistant for two years, and I slowly began the enrollment of coming back to UTRGV. The reason I chose this major was because it allowed me to do one of many things it was open to lead into any field of choice and that would be nursing, physician assistant healthcare manager, or doctor. The choice was mine to make when I felt ready for what I wanted to pursue in the future with these endless opportunities. I wanted a career that allows me to make a meaningful difference in the field of healthcare.

What do you hope to achieve beyond the completion of your major?
I hope to be exactly where God wants me to be. I foresee me running hospitals and that is either being a charge nurse or being in human resources. I want to be able to implement changes and run the management side of healthcare. This aligns with the many values and aspirations that allow me to contribute to promoting opportunist ideas.

What do you like most about UTRGV?
I appreciate the diverse range of classes available at UTRGV. The professors are supportive and have offered great opportunities for hands-on learning and research.

What does being a Vaquero mean to you?
Being a Vaquero and attending UTRGV is embracing the values of hard work, resilience, and community. Becoming a Vaquero the university instills pride to commit academic excellence, diversity, and making an impact on the Rio Grande Valley. It leaves a strong sense of community and dedication to providing endless opportunities to all the students.

What opportunities has UTRGV helped you find throughout your community?
UTRGV has provided more opportunities to engage with the community. Such as volunteering programs and community service initiatives. The university has supported me by allowing me to collaborate on projects and volunteering that have broadened my perspective and enriched my experience. My fellow mentors are supportive and have created a positive environment in my both personal and professional growth.

What advice do you have for fellow students pursuing their degrees?
My advice for fellow students who are pursuing their degrees is to stay focused on your present and future goals. You might think it’s just four years, but it feels like you blinked your eyes and it’s already at the end. The process and the growth you get to know about yourself while you're studying are mixed emotions. Sometimes you're at the edge of your seat every semester, but you must remember that there is a version of you that is looking up to you.
