Why UTRGV?
I decided to pursue my criminal justice studies at UTRGV due to its dedication to offering a thorough and socially conscious education. UTRGV prepares students for a variety of careers in law enforcement, legal studies, and public policy by providing a distinctive combination of demanding academic coursework and real-world, hands-on experiences. The university's solid ties to local, state, and federal agencies, along with the faculty's experience, combine to create a stimulating environment for learning and professional development. Furthermore, UTRGV's focus on multicultural awareness and social justice is a wonderful fit with my objective of having a significant influence on the criminal justice system.

What made you decide on your current major?
I majored in criminal justice because I want to improve society through fairness, justice, and safety. It allows you to address important issues like crime prevention, rehabilitation, and civil rights. I want to learn about the legal system, develop analytical and problem-solving skills, and make society more just and equitable by studying criminal justice. I want to make a difference in this field by serving the community and advocating for the people.

What do you hope to achieve beyond completion of your major?
I intend to join the U.S. Border Patrol after completing my criminal justice major to support border safety and national security. My objective is to use the information and abilities I've acquired throughout my education to oversee border security operations, stop illicit activity, and guarantee legitimate trade and travel. My dream job would be on the front lines, enforcing the law with my training and helping people in need by way of humanitarian endeavors. My goal is to become a more senior member of the Border Patrol and assume leadership positions that will enable me to shape policy and enhance procedures for more effectiveness and humane border management.

In addition, UTRGV's robust alums network and affiliations with regional, national, and international organizations have provided opportunities for professional growth and mentoring, further equipping me for a prosperous career in criminal justice.
