Why UTRGV?
I selected UTRGV because it’s an affordable university that provides excellent opportunities for students to enhance their career development all while being close to home. For me, my family is important and being able to be close to home while pursuing my bachelor's degree allows me to be with my family and spend time with my siblings.

What made you decide on your current major?
During my junior year of high school, I realized that I wanted to pursue a degree in business. However, it wasn't until I attended a summer program that I became fascinated with the field of management. Learning about the various industries and roles that could be obtained with this college degree in business sparked my interest even more.

What do you hope to achieve beyond completion of your major?
I hope to achieve my goal of becoming the first person in my family to graduate from a university. I want to be a positive role model for my younger siblings, who are a few years away from starting their own college journeys. After completing my undergraduate degree, I plan to attend law school to study business law. Alongside my studies, I also plan to continue growing my part-time business.

What do you like most about UTRGV?
What I appreciate the most about UTRGV is the support and resources that our campus offers to enhance our academic experience. We have access to tuition advantages, scholarships, student engagement programs, travel funds, and resources like the Center for Innovation and Commercialization. This center is particularly valuable for aspiring entrepreneurs like me, as it provides a range of programs and resources that contribute to our professional development. All these resources is what makes me a proud Vaquero.

What does being a Vaquero mean to you?
To me being a Vaquero means to be part of the camaraderie among students, and alumni that stands with UTRGV in being diverse, college equity, a community that values education, and community engagement.

What opportunities has UTRGV helped you find throughout your community?
At UTRGV's College of Business and Entrepreneurship, I've had the privilege of engaging in impactful volunteering initiatives, such as the Collegiate Entrepreneurs’ Organization's Toy Drive. This event not only allowed me to contribute to spreading the joy of Christmas to children in welfare communities and the Edinburg hospital, but also fostered a deep sense of community and empathy within me. Additionally, through group competitions, conferences, and programs facilitated by the college, I've gained invaluable experiences that have significantly contributed to my skills development and academic growth. These opportunities have not only broadened my perspective but have also sparked my passion for making a positive difference in both local and academic communities.

What advice do you have for fellow students pursuing their degrees?
As a senior, the biggest advice I could give is to join a student organization that pertains to the degree you are pursuing. By being part of an active organization on campus, not only would you contribute to developing your personal skills, but you would also be able to be part of an internship, volunteering, competitions, and conference opportunities.
