Why UTRGV?
What initially intrigued me about UTRGV is its sense of community portrayed in Hispanic culture that is so well integrated into programs and organizations on campus. With this sense of community in Hispanic culture, there is still celebration of the beauty in diversity among the student body, professors, and academic opportunities.

What made you decide on your current major?
When in high school, I was unsure of what direction I wanted to go regarding a future career. My passion for creativity and design motivated me to pursue a degree in marketing and has allowed me to learn skills to apply my innovative nature to influence the community around me.

What do you hope to achieve beyond completion of your major?
I have confidence that the knowledge and experience I take from my studies and college experiences will lead me to success in creative marketing roles in the realm of advertising, design, and creative direction.

What do you like most about UTRGV?
One thing that has stood out to me for the time I’ve attended UTRGV is the incredible support I have received from professors who are passionate about what they teach. This element of my experience at UTRGV continues to inspire me to pursue my goals and appreciate the knowledge I am so privileged to acquire while in school.

What does being a Vaquero mean to you?
The determination to take on opportunities that allow me to grow academically and professionally has a so much to do with the culture instilled in me by being a student at UTRGV.

What opportunities has UTRGV helped you find throughout your community?
In working with an on-campus organization, Campus Food Security Initiative (CFSI), I have had the great privilege of discovering personal passions in the areas of cooking, nutrition, gardening, community engagement, and so much more. This position has also allowed me to develop and apply skills relevant to my degree and future jobs.

What advice do you have for fellow students pursuing their degrees?
Actively search for opportunities that will cause you to grow in your skills and experience. Pushing through the initial difficulty that may come with taking new chances is the absolute best thing you can do for yourself. Don’t be afraid to put yourself out there-it just takes a little bit of courage.
