Aquatics

Overview:
Responsible for directly supervising various UREC activities, including, but not limited to Aquatics competitions and practices, Outdoor Adventures programming, and open recreation.

Position Overview

This position is responsible for supervising a safe environment in the outdoor and indoor pool areas.  

Major Duties
  • Monitor and enforce pool rules and policies.
  • Keep facility clean and organized.
  • Know facility’s emergency action plan, and how to engage it.
  • Perform lifesaving duties when needed.
  • Answer patron’s questions and follow up on requests.
  • Assist with the opening and closing the facility as needed.
  • Attend all scheduled meetings and in-services.
  • Maintain a good level of physical fitness.
  • Work with swim lessons and private parties.
  • Perform other duties assigned.

Qualifications

Must be a current student or a student pre-registered for the upcoming long semester (fall/spring, min. 12 hrs). Student must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0.

Requirements

Must pass State of Texas criminal background check. Must possess current American Red Cross Life-guarding, CPR for the Professional Rescuer, First Aid Certifications. Pass the UTRGV UREC Aquatics staff skills test.

Kinesiology or health/wellness major; previous experience in a health and fitness environment.
