Artist Statement

personal logoEver since I was a little girl, I’ve been making art. It wasn’t until I got to middle school that I decided I wanted to be a professional artist and it hit me that I didn’t want to become anything else but an artist. My friends all smiled when they saw my work and to me seeing that my work makes people smile or react in some form was worthwhile to me. In high school summers, I attended two pre college programs that helped hone my art and focus onto where I wanted my art to go and do. It also opened my eyes to new ways I could affect people and how they affect me.

My work is a mixture of things that I’m still exploring to this day as I work with all sorts of mediums. I think my work ranges from making someone smile to making someone wonder what was going on in my head at the time. I hope one day I can inspire people to see good in things and situations even bad things.

I haven’t settled on a style yet and I’m still growing as an artist but most of my work is through a pain staking process of trial and error. While sometimes I want to throw the keyboard at the wall out of frustration, I love being able to see the end results of my hard work and dedication to making something that feels right to me. It helps as well that when digital art frustrates me, I can go to painting or photography to soothe me. Even through the hard times, there is nothing else I’d rather do than what I’m doing now.
