Artist Statement

personal logoEver since I was a child, I enjoyed drawing quite a bit; I was known for my depictions of dinosaurs, dragons, animals, etc. As years passed, my love for the visual appeal of creatures increased but also shifted a bit into images with meaning and purpose. Realism is the artistic technique that I strive for in every single piece that I make.

My work is a crossroads of sorts. On one hand, it’s created as a means to explore my inner self and release my built-up energy where I am my own target audience and critic. On the other hand, I hopeto inspire people to think outside the norm that is society with my designs and art pieces. My work now tends to be about the nature of humans based on what we have done and where that might lead–religion, politics, mental states, with the occasional piece revolving on mythological creatures and horror. As dark as my work can get, I do pride myself on creating it all as beautiful as I can.

Rembrandt is the most influential artist on my art and style. His chiaroscuro technique is something I’ve tried implementing onto my art ever since I first learned of it. Because of this, my style has evolved and been refined to where a dark mood is always achieved. Syd mead, although just about the polar opposite of Rembrandt, has also been an inspiration to my art –his work isset onthe future of human technology and infrastructure.

My approach to problem solving involves marathons of work with little to no breaks in between. While working on my art, once I am in the groove, Itend to work well for long periods of time and the fewer the distractions the better. I prefer to solve a particular problem/finish a project within one sitting than I do spreading it within small periods of time throughout a few days.
