Umbra

For this exhibit, I took inspiration from the astronomical phenomenon that I have observed in my own life. The first that I ever experienced was in 2017, when I lived in Wyoming and was lucky enough to see a solar eclipse in its rare form of 100% totality. It was breathtaking, and far more remarkable than I ever could have imagined had I not experienced it for myself. There was an ethereal semblance I endured by seeing the world as we know it transform into an almost supernatural occurrence. I wanted to hang on to that feeling forever and find a way to express it to others.

I created the platform Umbra with the purpose of bringing together people from around the globe who are also enthusiastic about cosmic encounters. Anyone can use this space as a resource to find helpful information about scheduled solar events and astrophysical data. Of course, people are welcome to share their experiences and connect with others through our interactive social forums. I aimed to captivate the transcendental sensation one may experience during these universal developments while encouraging engagement with astronomy enthusiasts alike in the way of stimulating design.
