Artist Statement
My name is Manuel Gamez. I have always had a deep interest in art. In high school one of my favorite classes was a class on the adobe suit. It was in that class that I realized I could create with two things I love, technology and art. As I started studying at UTRGV for graphic design, I began to learn more about discovering one’s self with art and design. As soon progressed I began to train myself to spot design in the world around me. I now use my knowledge to learn more about how design and culture exist in the same space. I love to explore both political and cultural themes in my work. When designing I am more inclined to lean towards sleeker and futuristic looks. I want my work to be attractive to a more alterative audience as well as speak a message that means something. I want my work to impact my community and make people feel connected to something other than the reality they perceive.
