Artist Statement
In middle school, I was met with the great decision of choosing an elective and while art was the least picked option, it was my first choice as I always knew I belonged in an art class. In 7th grade, we had a project in which we researched careers and that’s where I learned about graphic design. I was intrigued by how a career could combine artistic and creative qualities at the same time. In high school, I took a minor turn and tried a different career path but after thinking about which career, I would be enjoying when I was older, I changed my major and officially committed to being a graphic designer. Throughout the years, I have learned that there’s more to graphic design than just making something aesthetically pleasing. It’s about making design serve a purpose and making information easy to understand which I strive to achieve throughout my work. Graphic design is a perfect career for me because even when there are difficulties, I find joy in my work and see it as a way to challenge myself and grow. Now looking back, I have learned so much and wouldn’t imaging myself doing anything else.
