Artist Statement
My name is Karime Salinas and I enjoy blending my love for drawing and graphic design by creating digital illustrations that are fun and enjoyable. Visual communication is a skill that I will continue to embraceand use in my work toshow my voice as a designer!
I remember I started to gain an interest in art during my childhood when I lived in Mexico. I would watch a TV show called Art Attack on the Latin American Disney Channel. I fell in love with watching the host make arts and crafts out of toilet paper rolls and papier-mache. On most days, I would walk to the papeleria with my nana and buy as much construction paper and Bacolorettos markers that I could. At the age of 7, I started my first painting class and began to shape my artistic voice. An important aspect of my art is to create something fun that will make viewers laugh or smile. Part of my artistic process now as a graphic designer consists of writing lists of words, a lot of sketching, and doodling. I believe that doodling is an essential role in my process because it helps me with problem solving and makes me feel like a kid again.
