Box to Self

Self-care has always been a topic of interest to me, and with the increase in mental health acknowledgement and recognition, I wanted to create a simple way to exercise self-care through a monthly subscription box service. As someone who understands the importance of self-care but does not regularly practice it, I thought it would be a good idea to work on this project and possibly learn more about the topic along the way. Something that I wanted to try experimenting with was packaging design. The idea was to create a design-oriented subscription box that not only focused on the products themselves but also prioritized the box opening experience. Thus, Box to Self was born.

Each box includes self-comforting items like a blanket, face sheet masks, and a bag of tea. These items are designed each month to follow an overarching theme or concept and are interchanged depending on which items are the most popular. Having something to look forward to every month and counting on it to make your day a little better was one of the main intentions behind Box to Self. With this project, I wanted to work with lettering and illustration and blend the two together to create a stylized energy for this brand identity. Thus, I decided to adapt some of the characteristics of the retro style that are playing with patterns, muted colors, and bold graphics while keeping in mind the primary target audience of female millennials.
