Artist Statement

personal logoAs a junior in high school, I took my first ever graphic design class, having not the slightest clue how to work the Adobe programs. I remember thinking I would break the programs given how complicated and new they all seemed to me. Of course, with time, I started feeling more comfortable in what I was doing and started really enjoying the class. I also began to acknowledge and appreciate graphic design the more I saw it surround me on an everyday basis. It was the perfect combination of two of the things I loved most: art and technology. It was not long after that I intended to study graphic design, which led me to develop an interest in communication design and expression.

I believe inspiration is everywhere, so long as you look for it. My work holds connections to the little things I see in my day-to-day life and is also influenced by what I like. With each project that I take on, I strive to produce the best work that I can at the moment and see it as an opportunity to continue to grow my design skills. Through my work, I hope to get people to recognize graphic design as a field of many possibilities and potentially lessen the stigmatization that sometimes surrounds it. My process for my work always begins with research. I like to see what is out there and get inspiration from work I believe to be executed successfully. Two designers that I look up to include rkreate on Instagram and Chris Do. After the research stage, it takes several rounds of critic and revisions before a project is taken from its beginning stages to its end. I deem a project successful once it resolves the problem or fulfills the criteria that had to be met.
