KID ATLAS

For my exhibit project I wanted to rekindle my love for music production and get into every aspect of modern music culture. I started by picking up and identity I had made for myself a few years ago (Kid Atlas). Then I decided to fully flesh out the persona and get a feel for what I wanted those who would listen to the music would feel. I knew then I wanted to create something ethereal but structured. So, I tried to conceptualize an abstract idea that I had made previously. The logo was the idea that I went with because it made sense to make a spin off of a previously existing concept.

The smiley is such a renown pop logo and I wanted to make it my own and it only felt natural to make things balanced with chaos. Then to add the ethereal feeling I decided to make a dynamic landscape to give a feeling of depth and emptiness. Through and through I enjoyed the process of this project because it allowed me to look within myself and indulge in previous unresolved ideas. While also allowing myself to finish those ideas with the knowledge and skills I have that I didn’t before. Also, the idea of simply finishing an old project that I put down because I had developed as a person and an artist was satisfying. Sometimes when life has a funny way of coming full circle.
