Artist Statement

personal logoI would say that coloring books were my introduction to art . Always wanting to color within the lines with vibrant colors. Often snapping the crayons in half from the pressure. I was fortunate to have art classes in elementary school, an elective that seems to be the first to go when there's budget cuts. It was a lot of coloring but I remember being introduced to basic perspective. There was no hesitation in choosing art in middle school. I got introduced to painting around this time. Painting was so therapeutic for me,being able to sit for hours painting. My mom and art teachers recognized my aptitude for art and would encourage me to further my studies. I would go to private art classes after school and on weekends. Listening to pop music while painting helped me focus. You will always find me with earbuds listening to music. I assisted different school functions through art projects. I got to paint Michael E. Fossum's face for a collaborative painting that hangs in the entrance office at Fossum Middle School. I graduated with my visual arts associates from Achieve Early College high school.

In my free time I would be on my phone or my computer browsing the internet. I would see a variety of product advertisements and all kinds of social media posts. There was something captivating about these advertisement designs. I find inspiration just walking through the aisles of department stores. I just keep thinking that all these packages have a designer behind them. I enjoy walking through the toy aisle to see all the different types of illustrations there are. Solo traveling has also been inspiring to me. Being able to see and experience the diversity found outside the valley. Taking photos of beautiful places you encounter on a Texas road trip.

I took the leap into graphic design, never having touched any Adobe programs before. I haven't looked back since. I am always happy to learn more about the vast world of graphic design.I want my designs to make people happy, making their vision a reality. Creating brand identities that will send the desired message and bring success. My design process has improved throughout my college years. When assigned a project I always do my research on the topic. I will lay out this research and organize it. It really facilitates the whole design process. I go back to my designs the next day because I know that I will find something to fix or improve. Going to my peers and mentors to get feedback because it has always improved my designs. I enjoy giving feedback to my peers as well so they can also elevate their designs. I’m always striving for the best design possible.
