Apple Bat
The purpose of my work was to be able to inform others about the contemporary designer toy art movement while also showing the creation of a toy itself. I love the juxtaposition this movement has between the more traditional art and graphic design aspects and the modern manufacturing and commercialization aspects, creating a movement that not only is for art’s sake but has an awareness of the eventuality of the market baked in. With the rise of collectibles and merchandising this art movement helps make art collectible in itself. Though there are many forms of creating a designer toy my work takes the most common at home form of creating designer toys, resin casting. I hope my work helps introduce many to this wonderful and playful art movement.
