Octo
For my senior exhibit, I decided to create packaging and promotional posters for a toy titled “Genesis: Creation of Man”. I created a logo for the artist’s company titled “Octo”. The concept of my toy is based on a skeletal being called “The Creator” who is an almighty entity that can create life out of thin air. The figure is shown holding a sperm cell the size of its palm. Many people are unsure of the origins of life. This is my rendition of how life was created, through an ancient being responsible for the creation of the universe. I was interested in creating a toy because there are many elements of graphic design that are needed for a toy, such as typography, character design, and package design. I’ve always loved figurines, so I felt this was appropriate for my senior exhibit. My work is meant to go from a realistic promotional poster to a cartoon character on the package to shed light on such a heavy topic. I used Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop to create my packaging and posters.
