Artist Statement

personal logoMy involvement with art started with reading books with illustrations and Japanese comic books as a kid. It was mesmerizing to see hand-drawn illustrations both traditionally and digitally. Books with color or with monochromatic color palettes showed me that there are no limitations. Getting out of high school, I wanted to pursue a career in Illustration though I had no financial stability to move away. Felt disappointed but not discouraged to give up. I thought of giving Graphic Design a chance to try it out. It was a struggle at first, but I eventually got the hang out of it. It was interesting to learn behind the scenes what makes a good logo or advertisement strategy. Mixing Graphic Design and Illustration as one is most enjoyable because I can get the freedom to do both rather than doing one.

The importance of my work is to make an impression on others and see how they react. I like to hear people’s opinions about them and feel the recognition my work gets. Their opinion that is either positive or negative is enough for me because I got to be successful in catching their attention and making their analysis my work. My work method is branching out the possibilities of how an idea will work. I view brainstorming as a maze, confusing with dead ends, but there are plenty of paths to take and see if it works. The rivers of possibilities are endless, and I see it as a way of managing the idea to work out in the end.
