BABY • GOD

My Fall 2021 Senior BFA Exhibition is a collection of work that showcases both my skills and interests as a graphic designer. I chose to base my exhibit on a 3-piece branding campaign of a debut album release for a hip-hop music artist of my creation. I chose to create an album cover for a made-up artist because I love music just as much as I love designing and illustrating. I have always appreciated album cover art because it embodies the mood, emotion, and expression of the album in one picture. I look forward to one day collaborate with music artists or even become one myself and design/illustrate my own brand identity.

I began by sketching out ideas that would portray the album’s mood and emotion. I wanted something that embodied the feeling of being lost and alone. And so, I felt the idea of an astronaut flying through the void of space would capture that perfectly. I did some research and created a mood board with the exact color palette I wanted and fonts. I then created all the illustrations and drawings in Photoshop using my Huion tablet, and when I needed to design text, I did it on InDesign.

I knew once I had created the main album branding, that I would use it for my other projects to advertise the album. So, for my first project I created a tour date poster that my made-up music artist will use once the album is released. Then for my second project I created a vinyl spread that I mocked up to showcase how the album cover would look if it was ever printed on a vinyl. Finally, for my third project I decide to launch a billboard ad campaign using the main branding to advertise the new release and hopefully get young adults to stream the album.

For my first exhibit ever, I thought it would be fitting to combine both of my favorite passions, and I am very happy with my decision.
