Artist Statement
Movie posters and comic book covers are an extremely unique form of graphic design that is constantly evolving. I enjoy the work that goes into a piece that is representative of a bigger work and the thought process that goes into drawing in an audience. Being part of an evolving field that is innovating on communication is exciting and allows for constant growth. I want to help people communicate their brands and ideas, sharing what they want to say through graphic design. Graphic design has integrated itself into almost every aspect of modern life and everyone interacts with it someway and everyone, whether conscious of it or not, has an opinion of what they see. As graphic designers we must constantly learn what it is that the public perceives as satisfying or good design, we are always shifting with our audience. We need to learn how to follow trends, and at the same time stand out. If all design looks the same, the field grows mundane; this balance makes graphic design challenging. I did not begin studying graphic design with any of this in mind, I just wanted to make illustrations, but now I enjoy every aspect of graphic design and know how to apply my creativity and problem-solving skills to solve problems unique to graphic design. I have learned how to grow my love of art and drawing into something that is geared towards helping others build and identity or express their business’s identity. I am ready to apply my unique perspective to the field of graphic design and I am excited to show you all what it is that I have learned.
