The main goal of the National Student Speech Language Hearing Association (NSSLHA) is to encourage students with declared COMD or pre-COMD majors to develop a more specialized interest in the field of Communication Sciences and Disorders by spreading current and relevant information to all student members. As a member, we sincerely hope that you will take part in the events we host all year long to learn more about community involvement, to express your ideas, and to grow as future leaders. You will one day take on leadership roles as a Speech-Language Pathologist or Audiologist, and you can start now by joining NSSLHA.

COMD-National Student Speech Language Hearing Association (NSSLHA): National Gold Honors
The Department of Communication Disorders student organization, UTRGV Chapter of the National Student Speech Language Hearing Association (NSSLHA), has been awarded Gold Honors by National NSSLHA for the fourth time in the chapter’s history.
The NSSLHA chapter worked diligently on several projects to attain this award. Gold chapters have to maintain their National NSSLHA chapter affiliation, post updates on a monthly basis in the NSSLHA Community, and have at least 30% of National NSSLHA members within the chapter. They also must engage in two community outreach, two legislative advocacy, and two diversity, equity, and inclusion activities. Lastly, they must donate $200 through chapter fundraising for the ASH Foundation NSSLHA Scholarship.
The NSSLHA chapter’s philanthropic service also included donations to organizations such as the Rio Grande Valley Down Syndrome Association, Easter Seals of the Rio Grande Valley, TEAM MARIO, and the Capable Kids Foundation.
Congratulations to Joeli Robledo who has been elected the Junior Representative for NSSLHA 2024-2025.
