Should consult with an academic adviser to receive individual guidance on how the Pass/No Pass option may impact them.
May not choose the Pass/No Pass option. APA accreditation standards require a minimum grade of ‘B’, so a Pass grade will not be recognized as sufficient for competency.
You should consider how the Pass/No Pass option will affect your overall grade point average:
- If the letter grade you receive as a final grade in the course is an A, then taking the letter grade is the better choice for you. The A grade will add value to your GPA, but the Pass grade you would receive for an A will not add anything to your GPA.
- If the letter grade you receive as a final grade in the course is a B or C, then you should consider carefully whether the addition of the grade will lower or raise your GPA. If a B, and the 3.0 will improve your GPA, then keep the letter grade. If a C, and the 2.0 will improve your GPA, then keep the letter grade. If either of these will decrease your GPA, then the Pass grade you would receive will not affect your GPA in any way, so it is the better choice.
- If the letter grade you receive as a final grade in the course is a D or F, then you should choose the Pass/No Pass option. The No Pass grade you will receive for a D or F will not affect your GPA.
