How to Apply
The program receives applications solely through the Electronic Application Service (ERAS) provided by the Association of American Medical Colleges. Interviews are offered only after review of your application and supporting materials through ERAS. No paper applications will be accepted. The number of interview slots is limited, so please submit your application materials as early as possible.
Please use the following guidelines to complete your application:
- Completed online ERAS application.
- Dean's letter from your medical school.
- Three letters of recommendation from physicians with whom you worked during your training.
- A recent photograph.
- A personal statement detailing your interest in family medicine as your career specialty.
- Reports of your USMLE scores or COMLEX scores for osteopathic students (requires a fee paid by student).
- Medical school transcript.
- We prefer individuals who have graduated from medical school within the past three years. For any applicant who graduated from medical school more than one year ago, we will want to know that you have been active in significant medical experiences in the intervening years and have kept current in your medical knowledge.
Additional guidelines for International Medical Graduates (IMGs): IMG requirements are the same as U.S. graduates. The following are also considered:
- Eligible for licensure in Texas. (TMB)
- ECFMG certified (if the applicant still in medical school, must be ECFMG by June 30).
- Must be eligible for employment in the United States on July 1 of the year of the Match.
- Recent clinical experience, preferably in the United States.
- The ability to demonstrate a true commitment to family medicine.
