Vaquero Roundup is the final part of New Student Orientation at UTRGV. It's a crucial event for all new freshmen who have enrolled for the upcoming summer or fall semester. As a recent high school graduate, attending this session is mandatory for you.
During Vaquero Roundup, you'll participate in a welcome session with your college or school, learn about Student Success, and connect with the UTRGV community. This event is designed to help you prepare for your first semester as a Vaquero!

Who must attend Vaquero Roundup?
All new freshmen enrolled for the summer or fall semester at UTRGV must attend Vaquero Roundup. A new freshman is anyone who recently graduated high school (May/June).
Transfer students are welcome to attend, but it is not mandatory.
How do I sign up for Vaquero Roundup?
You will choose your Vaquero Roundup date when you register for New Student Orientation.
How do I change my Vaquero Roundup date?
Vaquero Roundup dates are based on your intended major. If you would like to change your date, you will also have to change the campus on which you attend Vaquero Roundup (this does not impact where you take your classes). Please log into the Orientation reservation system to change your Vaquero Roundup date.
What is Vaquero Roundup?
Vaquero Roundup is the final part of New Student Orientation. This is where you connect with Colleges, Student Organizations, and other departments at the university. Vaquero Roundup helps you prepare for your first semester as a Vaquero.

Vaquero Roundup is held on both the Brownsville and Edinburg campuses!
Do MSA and UTRGV dual credit students need to attend Vaquero Roundup?
Yes! We know our MSA and UTRGV dual credit students are very familiar with UTRGV's campuses. Vaquero Roundup will provide you with more insight into what is available to you as an undergraduate student!
