Vivian Berlanga
Artist Statement
My name is Vivian Berlanga and I’ve been drawing since a child, which has led to my dedication towards illustration, design, and animation. I believe studying graphic design has enabled elasticity to my field of work, since I have the knowledge of implementing my traditional skills into my digital designs and vice-versa. Being something of a combination of artist and designer during this age feels pretty good and I hope you enjoy what my classmates and I do!
My parents introduced me to animated films that inspired me while I grew up. It seems my direction in art leans towards paying a homage to my inspirations. To me, art should inspire our societies while introducing new perspectives. Artists have a responsibility to extract intangible objects from our imagination and show others a new form of expression, instead of relying on what is shown to us. Through design or illustration, we bring ideas or stories into fruition, and thus further beautify our surroundings with new ideas.
