Artist Statement
I'm Sabrina Hope De La Rosa and I am a Designer/Artist. Today, we choose to work in order to support our families and loved ones. I wanted to use my art to show others that there are different scenes when it comes to working hard for loved ones...and this is something we should all take notice of our lives. When working on my art I want to capture what people often neglect, our families working together to provide. People around us have stories that are in common with our own.
She emphasizes that social communication is what is important amongst everyone. With her life experience, she presents pieces that show communication is what makes everyone understand and comprehend a feeling of emotion that may be different for everyone. You can this through her photography, graphic design, and paintings. Growing up in a rural environment, she had a lot of time to think to herself and imagine the impossible. Communicating with someone whodoesn’t understand through words but instead through vision and picture is something she learned to practice in an isolated environment. Her love for animals and nature is an element she bonds with the most in her art pieces. Experiencing a close connection with animals and nature is something that drew me to creating art with pencils and simple paper. Studying the movement and actions of horses, goats, cows, etc. is what drew me to draw them in the first place. That's when my passion for drawing and creating began. Not experiencing a lot of friends, but only a neighbor that was foreign from English was a lesson for both of us. Coming from different cultural backgrounds and speaking different languages, we managed to communicate through art, drawings, eyes,objects, face features, and manners is an experience I still have with me when I focus on design or communication with my audience. What I emphasize in my work is emotion. May it be with the stokes I use with my charcoal pencil, brush, or design. I tell astory with my art in hopes of touching the lives of others who search for belonging. I didn’t always fit in perfectly with society as a young child and turned to no one and so I believe by sharing my illustrations and designs can help touch someone’s lifefor the better. My goal for my works is to accomplish communication efficiently and effectively to the audience. Working on several sketch ideas and have lunch to think about different ways it can go effectively. I then go back to it to make the proper adjustments necessary to come up with a clear understanding work of art.
