FRUKT HANDBAGS

For my exhibit, I wanted to develop a unique handbag collection that combines color, the art of folding known as origami, and fruits into a fun statement piece of fashion. A designer that has influenced much of my interest in design and fashion is Yoon Hong-mi. She is a designer based in Seoul, Korea that interprets fashion as a visual expression independent of nationality, sex, and age. Similar to her, I have always viewed clothing and accessories as non-gendered items because in my eyes, anyone can wear a piece of clothing or accessory and should not feel confined to just wearing what society believes is a person’s “designated” piece of garment that is based solely on gender. I hope this brand will encourage people to try different things when it comes to fashion and express their own take on it freely. I don’t want these handbags to be generic but explore the various capabilities of origami and create both a practical and
aesthetically pleasing item.
