Why UTRGV?
I chose to attend UTRGV because I would be able to stay close to home and receive a high quality education.

What made you decide on your current major?
I decided to major in music education because I love music. I’ve been singing in choir since the third grade and I thought it would be great to lead my own ensemble one day.

What do you like most about UTRGV?
The music professors are my favorite thing about UTRGV. They all work so hard to ensure we are getting the best education possible. I love that they are great educators and great musicians as well.

What are some of your favorite study spots on campus?
My favorite place to study is the study rooms in the library on the third floor.

What does being a Vaquero mean to you?
For me, being a Vaquero means taking pride in the Rio Grande Valley and using the education received here to enrich the community.

What opportunities has UTRGV helped you find throughout your community?
Being a part of the UTRGV Opera Theatre, Master Chorale and Chamber Singers has helped me with performance opportunities throughout the community. My favorite being the outreach program the UTRGV Opera Theatre engages in to perform for several local elementary schools. Last fall, I was cast as the Sandman in Humperdinck’s “Hansel and Gretel.” This fall, I was cast as Lucinda in Evan Mack’s and Josh Mcguires’ “Lucinda y las Flores de la Nochebuena.” My peers I’ve met at UTRGV have also helped me engage the community. Through their recommendations, I have collaborated with Camille’s Playhouse and secured a job at Little Mozart’s Music Academy as a private lesson teacher.

What are a few of your favorite books?
My favorite books are “Frankenstein” by Mary Shelley and “1984” by George Orwell. I remember reading these books in high school and enjoying all the interesting discussions I had with fellow classmates about them.

What’s in your playlist right now?
I listen to a lot of Original Broadway Cast Recordings, Lady Gaga, Drake, Puccini and Mozart.
