How to Apply: A Guide for International Applicants

As an international applicant, you will be required to submit a few supplementary items in addition to the program admission requirements. The steps below outline helpful information and guidance on the application process.
Update On International Admissions From U.S. Immigration And Customs Enforcement
The Student Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) regulations prohibit the issuance of a Form I-20 based on conditional admission, effective July 13, 2016. University officials can only issue a Form I-20 when students have met all standards for admission for the program of study listed on the Form I-20. These standards for admission include any English proficiency requirements.
- Complete the UTRGV online application at www.utrgv.edu/gradapply.
- Review specific admission requirements for your program on the Graduate Programs page.
- Pay the application fee online if required.
- Foreign credentials must be evaluated through an approved credential evaluation agency. Choose one of the approved services:
- Report Type: Select a course-by-course report.
- Visit the Foreign Credential Evaluation page for detailed information.
- Translation Needed: Obtain a certified English translation of your educational records.
- Official Transcripts must be submitted by the following deadlines:
- Fall Admission: October 1
- Spring Admission: March 1
- Summer 1 Admission: July 8
- Deadlines to submit original transcripts (with degree conferred):
- Fall Graduation: March 1
- Spring Graduation: July 8
- Summer I Graduation: August 24
- Summer 2 Graduation: October 15

Para Estudiantes Mexicanos
La Universidad de Texas de El Valle del Río Grande ofrece muchas ventajas para que los ciudadanos mexicanos puedan continuar con sus estudios a nivel de maestría y doctorado. Estamos localizados en el Valle del Río Grande, una de las zonas con menor costo de vida de la región. La familiaridad y cercanía a la frontera hacen de El Valle del Río Grande un lugar en donde se respira un ambiente cálido y una rica tradición cultural.
La Universidad de Texas de El Valle del Río Grande es la universidad pública con uno de los costos de colegiatura más accesibles de Texas. Prueba de ello es el subsidio económico para estudiantes mexicanos (Mexican Tuition Waiver), que le ofrece la oportunidad al ciudadano mexicano de pagar el mismo importe que los residentes de Texas, con lo cual se reduce el costo casi a la mitad.
