Dr. Hansheng Lei
Hansheng Lei received his B.S. from Ocean University of China in 1998 and M.S. from University of Science and Technology of China in 2001, both in computer science. He finished his Ph.D. study in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, University at Buffalo in December 2005. He joined the Computer and Information Sciences Department at the University of Texas at Brownsville (UTB, now UTRGV) as an assistant professor in Jan 2006. He was promoted to Associate Professor with tenure Fall 2012. He was a visiting professor at the EECS department, US Military Academy at West Point, June 2013-June 2014. His current research interests lie in data intelligence, cyber security, machine learning and computer vision. His research has been funded by NSF and US Department of Education with a total amount of ~$3.5M. He has served as a panelist for a variety of funding agencies, including NSF, Department of Education and Department of Commerce.

Mila Svetlova
Liudmila (Mila) Svetlova received her B.S. in Applied Mathematics and Information Science from National Research University Higher School of Economics in 2011. She graduated from a double-degree Master program, getting her M.S. in Computer Science from University of Texas at Brownsville (UTB, now UTRGV) and M.S. in Applied Mathematics and Information Science from National Research University Higher School of Economics in 2013. She was working as a Research Assistant with Dr. Hansheng Lei during her Master's degree at UTB. She was a Statistical Analyst at HomeAway Inc. from September 2013 till October 2015. She was responsible for developing statistical and predictive models utilizing diverse sources of data. She implemented customer retention, product upsell, and traveler segmentation models. In October 2015 she joined Strategic Data Solutions team at Apple Inc. as a Data Analyst and is responsible for fraud mitigation and risk analysis across several lines of businesses. Her interests lie in data mining and applied machine learning.

Froylan Morales
Froylan Morales received his B.S in Computer Science from the University of Texas at Brownsville (UTB, now UTRGV) in 2012. During this time he worked under the supervision of Dr. Hansheng Lei as a research assistant on projects ranging from 3D printing technology to Automatic Optical Inspection (AOI). He has focused primarily in the financial services domain working for an electronic banking company at Q2 ebanking as an implementation engineer until 2014. He is currently working for a brokerage and banking company at Charles Schwab Corporation as a Software Engineer doing data integration. He is expected to finish his M.S in Computer Science from Texas State University in Spring 2017. His interest lie in cyber security, machine learning and robotics.

Dr. Mahmoud Quweider
M K Quweider is a full Professor of Computer Information Sciences at the U. of Texas at RGV. He received his Ph.D. in Engineering Science (Multimedia and Imaging Specialty) and B.S. In Electrical Engineering, M.S. in Applied Mathematics, M.S. in Engineering Science, and M.S. in Biomedical Engineering all from the University of Toledo, Ohio. He also holds a Bachelor of English and a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Texas at Brownsville. After graduation, he was employed at several corporations including Pixera, a digital multimedia processing company in Cupertino, CA, 3COM, a networking and communication company in Schaumberg, IL, and Mercantec, an E-Commerce company in Naperville, IL. He has more than 40 publications in the field, and has served as a reviewer/moderator for several scientific and educational journals and conferences. He joined UTB in the Spring of 2000. His areas of interest include Imaging, Visualization and Animation, Networking and Cyber Security, Web Design, Computer Graphics, and Linguistics.

Dr. Liyu Zhang
Liyu Zhang is an Associate Professor in the School of Engineering and Computational Sciences at the University of Texas at Brownsville. He received his Ph. D. in Computer Science from the State University of New York at Buffalo in September 2007. Before that he received his M. S. (2000) and B. S. (1997) from Fudan University in Shanghai, China, both in Computer Science. His research interests are in theoretical computer science and its applications, with emphasis on computational complexity, complexity-based cryptography, and design and analysis of algorithms. Dr. Zhang’s research has been sponsored by the National Science Foundation and U.S. Department of Education.

Dongchul Kim
Dong-Chul Kim received the B.S. degree in computer science from Kyungsung University, Korea, in 2003, and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in computer science from the University of Texas at Arlington in 2007 and 2014, respectively. He is currently an assistant professor in the department of computer science, University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. His research interests include bioinformatics, machine learning, and data mining.

Fitratulla Khan
Fitratullah Khan has a B.S., an M.S., and a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from The University of Texas at Arlington and an M.S. in Computer Science from The University of Kansas at Lawrence. He is serving as a full professor of Computer Science at The University of Texas RGV. While at The University of Texas at Brownsville, besides serving as an associate professor and later full professor of Computer Science, he served as the Director of networks and telecommunications followed by serving as the Chief Technology Officer in Information Technology. Being in Information Technology Services, he put a lot of effort in researching solutions that provide accessibility, reliability, and scalability in computing. Most of his research has been of experimental and applied nature. He setup a research oriented cell within the department of networks and telecommunications to continue doing applied research with immediate results to facilitate networking and computing across campus. He drew upon resources from Computer Science and Engineering background, and many of the systems implemented across campus were a result based on this research. Most recently, research focus has been on imaging-based expert systems and small scale mobile solar energy systems.
