Mario Jiménez Díaz

Statement:

"Emerging around the turn of the millennium at a crossroads of disciplines such as Art History, Aesthetics, Film Theory, Cultural Studies, Media Theory, Visual Culture, Postcolonial and Gender Studies, Visual Studies respond to the need to analyze an area of increasing importance in contemporary societies: that of visuality, in which they attempt to account, without disciplinary restrictions, of the processes of production of cultural significance that originate from the public circulation of images. We could thus describe them as those studies that deal with the social life of images, analyzing the processes of cultural construction of visuality."
