Laboratory Animal Resources (LAR)
Welcome to Laboratory Animal Resources:
Laboratory Animal Resources (LAR) at the University of Texas-Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) is available to all researchers. LAR administers and supports all research, teaching and studies which require the use of animals.
We are here to take care of your research animals and their husbandry needs: providing clinical care, feed, water and clean bedding in species-appropriate environments.
Contact us for guidance as you develop your protocols and for didactic and hands-on training, including, but not limited to, proper animal handling, sample collection, and surgical techniques.
We follow AAALAC practices and maintain compliance with the following:
-
U.S. Government Principles for the Utilization and Care of Vertebrate Animals Used in Testing, Research, and Training
-
The Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals
