Swim Lessons


Whether you are looking for a good workout or just want to relax with your friends, our Aquatics program offers recreation for individuals of all ages to enjoy. Our mission is to offer a wide variety of aquatics classes and opportunities to participate in organized events and open swimming while maintaining a safe environment. Swimming lessons are offered to all ages and are designed to emphasize stroke and turn technical development into a fun and challenging environment.

 

Youth Swim Lessons – Brownsville BCASA

Summer 2025: July 14 - August 7, 2025

BCASA -Classes are held at Brownsville UTRGV Casa Bella Apartments outdoor pool. 2651 FJRM Ave, Brownsville, TX 78520

Preschool I - 4 to 5-year-olds who are new to the water will develop comfort in the water, learn water entry, bubble blowing, floating, kicking, underwater exploration and general water safety skills.

Preschool II - Prerequisite: Able to demonstrate completion requirements of Preschool 1. 4 to 5-year-olds who are very comfortable in the water will learn new skills such as combined arm and leg action on the front, treading with support and general water safety skills.

Levels 1 – 6: Participants are taught to swim and improve their level of skill.

Level 1 - Introduction to Water Skills

Must be age 6 on the first day of the program in order to participate. Objectives: Supported floating on front and back, gliding, kicking, and alternating arm and leg action.

Level 2 - Fundamental Aquatic Skills

Objectives: Unsupported float, gliding, kicking on front and back without support, combined arm action with kick on front and back, treading water without support, personal safety, and rescue skills.

Level 3 - Stroke Development

Prerequisites: Must be comfortable in deep water. Objectives: Front crawl with breathing to the side, coordinated back crawl, butterfly, breaststroke, elementary backstroke, surface diving, treading water, personal safety, and rescue skills.

Level 4 - Stroke Improvement

Objectives: Improve stroke proficiency on front crawl, back crawl, butterfly, breaststroke, elementary backstroke, sidestroke, surface diving, open turns, personal safety, and rescue skills.

Level 5 - Stroke Refinement

Objectives: Refine front crawl, back crawl, butterfly, breaststroke, elementary backstroke, sidestroke, turns on front and back, long shallow dives and treading water. Personal safety and rescue skills are also covered.

Level 6 - Stroke Proficiency

Objectives: Refine all strokes to increase efficiency, power, and smoothness over great distances. Personal safety and rescue skills are also covered.

We offer swim classes for adult beginners and children ages 4-14yrs.  Our lessons provide a structured and supportive environment led by certified instructors.

Improve your strokes, gain endurance, or learn to swim for the first time.  Our instructors will provide you with a 45 minute, individualized program to meet your needs.

$184 for eight 45 minute lessons.

Refunds are not available for private lessons.

 

Lessons will be scheduled by appointment (45 min.) during hours of operation of our Lap and Leisure pools.
