Terence Herman, MD

Biography

Dr. Terence Herman previously worked as a Hematologist and Oncologist at Doctors Hospital at Renaissance (DHR) in Edinburg for three years. Prior to that, he was the Chairman of Radiation Oncology and Professor of Hematology and Oncology at UTHSC-SA for 11 years and at OUHSC in OKC for 14 years. He graduated from the University of CT Health Center in Farmington, CT, trained in Internal Medicine and Hematology and Oncology at the University of AZ in Tucson, and in Radiation Oncology at Stanford Medical Center.  

During his prior academic affiliations, he was awarded several research grants to study the effects of tumor microenvironment on the cytotoxicity of chemotherapeutic drugs and radiation. He served as Residency Director at both UTHSC-SA and OUHSC and teaching young physicians has always been important.  

Dr. Herman now focuses on the care of patients with Hematologic and Oncologic diseases and the application of newer anticancer drugs, especially targeted agents, and immune stimulatory agents. He feels a special affinity to the patients of the Rio Grande Valley and will see any hematologic or oncologic diagnosis as quickly as possible.
