Mrs. Angelica Bocanegra is the Senior Academic Coordinator for Clinical Education within the Office of Educational Affairs at the UTRGV School of Medicine. In this role, she plays a pivotal part in guiding 4th-year medical students through their final year of study.
With nearly 15 years of experience as an academic coordinator at the University of Texas Health Science Center's San Antonio Regional Campus in Harlingen, TX, —formerly the Regional Academic Health Center—and her subsequent role at the UTRGV School of Medicine, Mrs. Bocanegra has dedicated over 25 years to the field of medical education.
Her career began under the mentorship of the late Dr. Mario E. Ramirez, a distinguished family physician from Roma, Texas, through the MedEd Program at UTHSCSA in McAllen, Texas. She has also contributed her expertise working for the Department of Adult Continuing Education at Texas State Technical College in Harlingen, Texas.
Angelica holds an associate's degree in Sociology from South Texas College in McAllen, Texas, and an undergraduate degree in Multidisciplinary Studies from the University of Texas at San Antonio. She is working towards her Master of Arts in Higher Education Administration at the University of Texas at Rio Grande Valley, with expected completion in October 2024.
