Close to 75 area high school students interested in healthcare professions visited with the UTRGV School of Nursing in Edinburg on Friday, Sept. 21 to learn more about the nursing program and their future career options. The visit offered students a chance to participate in different hands-on activities that would be completed routinely as a UTRGV nursing student. At UTRGV, the pass rate for the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) required for nurses to be licensed to practice is 92.46%, which is above the state (89.77%) and national (86.94%) average. The university currently offers a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, master’s degrees in Nursing Administration, Nursing Education, Family Nurse Practitioner, and a post-master’s nurse practitioner certificate in psychiatric mental health nursing.
