Field of expertise: Agricultural Engineer by training, and my research includes air quality (particulate matter PM2.5 and PM10) from agricultural operations. I teach several automation courses and courses related to packing lines (citrus and nuts).

Short biography:

Dr. Athanasios Alexandrou is a professor in the Department of Industrial Technology at the Jordan College of Agricultural Sciences and Technology at California State University, Fresno. A native of Greece, he completed his first degree in Greece. After fulfilling his military service, he earned a Master's degree and a PhD in Agricultural Engineering from Silsoe College, Cranfield University, England. He currently teaches courses in the area of automation, and his research interests include air quality from agricultural operations, a critical area for California's Central Valley. He has received several grants and contracts from state and federal agencies related to this research.

Dr. Alexandrou represents Fresno State, one of the four California partner universities, on the Education Team of the California Agricultural Leadership Program (CALP), one of the premier leadership development programs in the world. He is fluent in Greek, English, and Spanish. He is married and has three children.
