2025 Southwest Collegiate Team Championship
Overview
The 2025 Southwest Collegiate Team Championship is a three‐board team event taking place on March 1, 2025. The top three finishing teams will qualify for the 2025 Texas Superfinals, to be held in the fall. There is no limit to the number of teams each college or university may enter.
This championship is part of the Texas College Chess Circuit, which promotes collegiate chess participation throughout the Southwest region.

Rating & Eligibility
- Not Rated: This event is neither FIDE‐rated nor USCF‐rated; no memberships are required.
- Ratings Used: USCF March Supplement Ratings will be used for pairings and determining board order.
- Unrated Players: Unrated participants will be assigned an effective rating of 100 for team‐average calculations and will appear as “UNR” on the wall chart.
- Team Ranking: Teams are ranked by the average of their three highest ratings.
- Board Order: Players must compete in descending rating order. A swap is allowed between two players if their ratings are within 50 points. The order must remain consistent throughout the event.

Fair Play Policy
- No Electronic Devices: No phones or other electronic devices are allowed in the playing hall.
- Governing Rules: The event follows the FIDE Laws of Chess.
- Final Rulings: The Chief Tournament Director will resolve any disputes, and all decisions are final.
