Message from the Provost: Change in Leadership for Honors College

It is with genuine respect that I send this message to inform our community that Dr. Mark Andersen, Dean of the UTRGV Honors College, has announced his intention to step down as Dean on July 31, 2024.

I want to take a moment to thank him for his work in launching the Honors College in the early days of UTRGV and for sustaining it since. The Honors College has served many students since 2015 and its hallmarks have been the summer study abroad program in Peru and the presence of our students as Archer Fellows in Washington, DC.  I am sure that many of them found these and other Honors College experiences enriching.

Please join me in thanking Dr. Andersen for his years of service as dean.

During the coming months, I will convene a group of faculty members and academic administrators to work with me on a transition plan for the Honors College.

Thank you for all you do for UTRGV,

Luis H. Zayas, PhD
Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs
